Felony malicious mischief4/13/2023 ![]() Someone spray painted a building or broke a car window. If you damage or destroy property that is shared by two people, you could be charged with a crime. If you destroy your own property with the intent to cheat, you could be charged with a crime. It is a crime for every person to deliberately destroy or damage property, to render property useless, or to obstruct, interrupt or interfere with the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property. It is a felony of the third degree to commit criminal damage in violation of division (A)(7). Penalties can range from a discharge to a fine and/or imprisonment. If you are found guilty, there is a wide range of possible punishments.
